Well, once again, it was proven that America's policy towards marijuana is waaay off base. "What is this proof?" you may ask. The proof is called "Weedstock" Over 2000 people got together for a weekend of fun, music and lots of dope smoking. Now, according to "the experts", all this pot smoking should have resulted in complete chaos; with raping, looting & killing being the result of a LOT of people smoking this "evil weed". Actually, it was quite the opposite. People smiling, dancing, having a good time. There were strangers stopping strangers, just to shake their hand...and yes, we all played in the "heart of gold" band. Gee...I guess Reefer Madness was wrong...

Here in America, almost 500,000 people are arrested every year for crimes relating to marijuana. In fact, nationwide there are more arrests for marijuana than for arson, manslaughter, rape, stolen property, vandalism, and sex offenses combined. Marijuana arrests make up approximately 1/3 of all the drug arrests. Almost 84% of these marijuana arrests are for simple possession. Over 1,500 people are doing 20 years or more in state and federal prisons for marijuana offenses. Since 1965, over 10 million American citizens have been arrested for marijuana offenses. We are jailing way too many people, spending way too much money, and expending way too much effort & energy towards this War on a Plant. That's right, let us not lose sight of what this truly is all about. Tho it's called a War on Drugs, marijuana is nothing more than a plant. A put-it-in-the-ground-and-it-will-grow, all-natural, PLANT!

I have some old fashioned beliefs. I believe that we are entitled to the right of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I believe that as long as no one is harmed, that an adult may pursue happiness as they please. I was taught that this is the basic principle that America was founded on. My Country 'tis of Thee spends over $15 billion a year in order to deny life & liberty to those who are pursuing happiness in a forbidden matter. I believe that Prohibition is wrong.

So, I'm not quite sure I understand this. They say "Only losers use drugs," (and contrariwise, only users lose drugs...but that's the other story) yet a Gold Medal was almost taken away from a Olympic Athlete for using marijuana. This is a bit of a paradox. How could a person be The Best of the Best, yet have inhaled the Evil Weed? One side must be wrong...Either this snow boarder didn't smoke pot, or it's not quite as bad as They say it is.
